FIVE QUICK QUESTIONS

-

1. What’s the image on your phone’s home screen?

A pic of the Atlantic coastline, from my favourite jogging route.

2. What would you spend your last R100 on?

Phew, that’s a radical end game idea. Last block in the game of life. I would give it away. I would be so post-consumption, anyway. Next stop, combustion. See ya!

3. What’s the worst piece of advice you ever took?

“You can’t do this – stop this folly now. It would take a Sol Kerzner type to get this going. You wasted our time, I will see myself out.” – a brutal putdown by a doyen of the design industry after the first reveal of plans for Design Indaba in 1994, to an audience of industry leaders in Sandton, by a 29-year-old outsider and commercial neophyte.

4. The one thing you wish you had learnt earlier on in life?

You have more time than you think. Enjoy the journey. Take the scenic route.

5. Three books that have changed your life?

Autobiography of a Yogi - a wholesome, rousing, inspiring book that I’ve read a few times ... it elevates your perspective of life, and helped me define purpose.

There are scores of others that have made an impact ... but maybe not changed my life,

[such as] The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole; Living in the Endless City.
