TWO SPOOKY STORIES

- By Ntombikayise Mncunu (7)

Thanks to seven-year-old Ntombikayise Mncunu from Pretoria for her Zulu to the Rescue story, and eleven-year-old Ella Layne for her Lumpy Slime Blob story. A special surprise will be in the post for you!

ZULU TO THE RESCUE

The wind was singing and the trees were flying. Nova and I stared through the window and shivered as a pink, oval spider walked through the locked door of our bedroom. Suddenly all the lights switched off and our television started playing by itself. We were scared. Our parents had gone to a restaurant to celebrate a lame slow dance and our teenage cousin Hlamulo was meant to be looking after us, but she was hiding in the bedroom cupboard.

We tried to be as quiet as bats but Nova tooted. The pink spider jumped on my face. We screamed, falling. Luckily Zulu, our family pitbull came to our rescue and clawed the pink spider. The spider was no more. Just as Nova and I were hugging

Zulu, Hlamulo tumbled out of the bedroom cupboard and said “Were they zombies?”

LUMPY SLIME BLOB

Ella Layne (11)

The wind was roaring and the trees were quivering. My sister and I stared through the window and trembled as an orange, lumpy slime blob walked through the locked door of our kitchen. Suddenly, all the lights flashed and our television started showing Tom and Jerry. We were gobsmacked. Our parents had gone to an amusement park to celebrate the day they got their bed and our teenage cousin Sophie was supposed to be looking after us, but she was sulking in the bedroom cupboard. We tried to be as quiet as mice but my sister gasped. The slime blob cackled. We jumped, and our eyes went wide. Luckily Whiskers, our family cat came to our rescue and chased the slime blob. The slime blob was no more. Just as my sister and I were hugging Whiskers, Sophie tumbled out of the bedroom cupboard and said, “What just happened?”
