Council disciplinary process squanders money, says Chatter

-

SABC

SABC boss Hlaudi Motsoeneng is doing exactly what the apartheid government was afraid of when they refused to release Mandela for 27 years. They were afraid that a black man would one day refuse to abide by the rule of law. We are witnessing clear defiance for the rule of law and the second highest court in the land. Now will be the time to ask antiapartheid freedom fighters for their advice. SAM.

Dear Hlaudi Motsoeneng, vacate that post, your game is over. No matric, you are unemployable, street vending for you.

Hlaudi Motsoeneng still sitting at SABC, earning an obscene salary of R 3.7m (hiked by himself) and cheeky enough to say: “It is not a sin for a black person to earn more money.” We all agree – EARN and take are two different issues, thereby clearly displaying that he never attained matric. (Karma b**ch).

Hlaudi Motsoeneng wants another SABC job. What about a cleaner’s job at their Phuthaditjhaba office in Qwa Qwa? RB.

Politics

The new MEC for transport and safety in KZN has done as much as his predecessor: absolutely zero. I have called on the MEC and all traffic authorities and policing to have patrols between Pinetown and the Belville road off-ramp countless times, only to receive zero response. The zone is a death zone. A private traffic patrol company needs to be created that patrols and has live streaming of the traffic to all social media and any other form of media to expose the culprits of the daily hell we are exposed to. AB. Ninety percent of disruptions in Parliament are caused by frustration because politicians, mainly ANC ministers, are evasive when answering questions. The Speaker is not doing her job. BRM.

To the mayor of Durban, please get facts right: you can only use Zulu here in KwaZuluNatal and in some of the other parts of South Africa. English is the common language. If you go anywhere else in the world, you can’t speak Zulu, only English.

Cosatu leader still believes he can force businesspeople to create jobs. He needs to change his attitude and work with the business community.

Dudu Myeni “Zuma” said: “I do not appoint myself. The appointment of the SAA Board is a cabinet decision,” guided of course by Zupta, the ultimate “one-man wrecking ball”. RB.

Protests

Enough is enough. Close down all universities for six months until sanity prevails. With students, talks can be held outside the university premises, and repairs can be made without intimidation. Shut Down :)

I’m watching the student protest and my heart goes out to the poor students. Dressed in branded clothes, all well-fed, some even obese, and again causing damage to the very institutions which are there to help them educate them. Why don’t they go back to lectures and let their leaders negotiate the path forward? It’s not as if we don’t know what they want. It’s hard not to wonder whether there are other forces involved here. Blackie.

It is time for the students to stop destroying their future. Students who join the marches cry foul when they are injured. Now the lecturers must go on strike. M Naidoo.

What do the parents of these students at the varsities say about the future leaders of this country? Do they condone or do they encourage it? Close down the varsities and let them walk the streets. Gran, Escombe.

Watch the news and see who is causing the violence at the university. Is this what these students are going to learn? Imagine what kind of educators, doctors, etc this country is going to produce.

Rhodes must fall, fees must fall, data must fall. What about outrageous banking charges must fall? First, free flavoured condoms, then free sanitary pads. What next? How about free toilet rolls daily, at taxpayers’ cost, to each one of our foot-stomping “students” who haven’t an inkling as to what they are doing at uni in the first place, short of satisfying their basic instincts. Oh well, we might as well shut down all universities for good. Mr V, Redhill.

I’m white and regarded by many as “privileged”. My great grandparents were poor and built their own schools (mud huts) and taught their own. My grandparents were too poor to afford education. My father had to borrow money to study, and my mother was poor too. Had to study through Unisa when we were growing up. My wife and I both had to borrow money to study. Privilege indeed! But none of us felt entitled to burn, loot or riot.

Crime

ANC Women’s League are silent on the outcome of the man who murdered a Durban woman and got off scott free because of being drunk while killing her. How about the State appealing this one for the victim’s sake? Justice for all...Old timer.

If Nkosinathi Nhleko says that “law enforcement agents will pursue the application of the constitution and law even if it means the heavens fall”, surely the first person on the list should be Zuma? Does Nhleko actually understand what he said?

Police Minister Nhleko should never be taken for granted. He is like an empty drum. Remember, he is the one who said Zuma had nothing to pay towards Nkandla. After Concourt ruling, Nhleko should have resigned. He should not be a police minister.

Nkosinathi Nhleko is in dreamland. If you could do your job, we would not have the highest crime, murder, rape etc in the world. Most people do not call the police or try to report crime, because it has become a joke. Get competent police first, then praise yourself. To the few good police members, keep up the good work. Kris.

Nathi Nhleko needs to shut it up. He under performed at the Compensation Fund. This man needs to control crime, which is uncontrollable.

Sport

Jose, someone sent me a very happy, smiling Jose captioned: “I’m a baker, I manage cakes!” I was thoroughly amused. Chetty.

Watched Liverpool play Derby on Tuesday night. Liverpool had only one English player, Jordan Henderson, in their team. With all the foreign players on field, they still call it the English Premier League. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it. Prem.

Odds and ends

December 27 is declared a public holiday by bumbling JZ. I am sure we have the highest number of holidays in the world. South Africa, it seems, is a country that’s on a permanent holiday; this is including the number of people who are on so-called sick leave.

My son went to a mixed public school until Grade 8. When he was leaving for high school, his class teacher and I had a chat. She was taking early retirement. Why, you ask? She had been teaching for 31 years and she said she had never seen such a disrespectful, undisciplined group of kids in her entire teaching career. And guess what... She said the biggest hurdle for her was asking parents to instill values, morals, respect for their teachers, discipline. She was met with hostility from most parents. And we wonder why the idiots at universities behave as they do. Marcel, Hillcrest.

Metro billing obviously still in a shambles. Four months later, no one answers the phone to take meter reading. In the morning, the phone rings, no answer. In the afternoon, does not even ring. Switchboard even worse. Press two, etc. Your call will be answered by next available agent. No such luck. Left a message to call me back last month. Still waiting. Please get Tozi Mthethwa to spin this one. Denton, Durban.

Sitting here bumperto-bumper in traffic at Gateway. Can’t believe that a new town like this was built with absolutely no regard to vehicle access, in or out.

Watching Barack Obama in his final speech at the UN on Sky News. What an orator! Not once did he refer to notes. Please do not put him out to grass. This disturbed world needs him. BG.

Just had a trim and a full body massage at a beauty salon in Overport for only R150. MN.

With regard to the trim, cut and blow dry. I pay R250 for a full colour, highlights as well as a cut and blow dry. Some hairdressers are a rip off. Gran.

Data prices must definitely fall. It appears these unethical, greedy service providers have colluded to keep prices high. All their so-called social development initiatives are funded by customers who are forced to pay these high prices while they masquerade as magnanimous mobile operators.

#data must fall. South Africans are always being violated by ruthless corporations. We all know that government is a direct beneficiary from the cellphone providers. Do the cheaper African countries not have “rural” areas? JP.

Sadly ECR have moved Carol to the 4am to 6am slot. They sent the wrong DJ to the graveyard shift. It should have been that other gang of cacklers, and she should have stayed where those of us who tune in to get the traffic reports appreciate her. Barry R.

The rand is creeping up again, getting stronger, showing muscle. I trust the Hawks are watching, ready to pounce. Just as it shows its head above the table ... Gordhan, down you go! AK 48.

A food packaging wholesaler in Chatsworth has dogs running around inside the premises all day long. Is this hygienically permissible? Some comments from the health department, please.

If half the money raised for anti-rhino poaching was spent on adverts condemning the Chinese and Vietnamese people who create the demand for the horn, I think the governments of those countries would be spurred into action and the demand for rhino horn would fall dramatically. How would the Chinese feel if a demand for panda bear products by Africans caused the slaughter of pandas? These countries must take responsibility for the slaughter of Africa’s rhinos. BRM.

We, like most of you, have had more than our fair share of crime in our community. We now intend putting up boom gates in our neighbourhood. Could our readers please tell me whether this is legal and not in violation of any municipal by-law? I believe there is one presently in operation in Reservoir Hills.

Donald Trump would be a breath of fresh air as president of the USA. Hillary Clinton is a vacuous blonde totally devoid of sincerity and personality, constantly flashing her false smile whenever a camera is close by. Her dead eyes scare the hell out of me.

A council disciplinary hearing takes four years to conclude, and the employee is suspended on full pay for all this time. The city leaders certainly know how to squander ratepayers’ monies without a hint of remorse or apology. Martel.

Malema, SAA nationalised. And in a serious mess and making losses. SA Inc will have to fund that first, before paying for students. Cure is simple: don’t nationalise.

If I become a drug dealer, then I can become very rich overnight. I will be able to pay bribes to not be harassed by the law. But if I become a drug addict, I will be getting caught every time and must pay bail and I can always get sentenced to prison. How can the drug problems be solved if the law in our country is so lenient on drug dealers? Employ police officers from other countries to work here, because our police are so corrupt we cannot stop the drug trade. Concerned resident, Chatsworth.

Can Metro police please move the taxis that park all over Sydenham after dropping off children. They use water that we pay for.
