BackChatters pay tribute to Kathrada

-

Ahmed Kathrada

Goodbye to one of our last struggle icon, Ahmed Kathrada. A great icon for us to look up. RIP. Vinolan, Chatsworth.

The passing away of Ahmed Kathrada is a great loss. He was one of the last few true struggle stalwarts, from the ANC of the past, that stood up for the people, speaking out when the government was doing things that were not in a line of governing according to ANC principles. A great man he was. Our sympathies goes out to his family and loved ones. Prem

Some men see things as they are and ask why? Others see things as they can be, and say why not? Our dear brother and leader Ahmed Kathrada had a vision of freedom for his beloved country and people and made it happen. The price, 26 years of imprisonment on Robben Island. Our tribute to a sincere giant, but a humble soul who sacrificed his youth to unshackle apartheid and bring back dignity, respect, and honor to our lives. He led a simple life right until the end and was a genuine son of the soil. Sadly and tragically the same cannot be said for many others of our selfish freedom fighters. Rest in peace. We salute you. Saalams and Duas. Yusuf Patel and the free people of this beloved country.

May your soul RIP Mr Ahmed Kathrada. You were a man of steel but had a heart full of goodness. Your wish was to see us South Africans unite as one happy nation. The nation mourns your passing on. Keith Thurley

I want to ask “the brains in government” what are you doing letting Zuma do what he is doing? It is so scary that some of you who are supposed to have a brain are letting this country and your supporters go to the dogs! John P.

What Helen Zille tweeted was nothing but the truth and one has to have an objective mind to know that we have a lot to thank the colonists for all we have in this country. The opposition and some of Zille’s enemies within her own party are making an issue of an innocent statement she tweeted. Of course, we owe a lot to the colonists. G.L. Naidoo. Durban.

Zuma’s at it again stuffing up our savings and the retirement funds of those who can’t loot the public coffers.

My daughter, a resident in Waterfall, reported that her Telkom phone was out of order on 25 occasions. Guess what, it still does not work.

Desmond D‘ SA...please note the municipality has a disaster management plan. I have read it. The only problem is we have never had instruction on what our roles are when the k*k hits the fan. Tonto.

I have time for all faiths but please could someone in a senior position inform senior political commentator Shannon Ebrahim that the world is bigger than the Middle East. I have yet to read an article written by her where the words ‘Islam’ or ‘Muslim’ do not appear. We need other opinions lest we land up back in the B. J. Vorster type years where only Calvinistic views were permitted. Heaven help us! VT.
