Students can learn from Kathrada

-

Ahmed Kathrada

What a slap in the face for our president! A dying man’s wish that the leader of the land must not attend his funeral is an indication of how low Zuma has sunk. LG Naidoo, Chatsworth.

Ahmed Kathrada got four university degrees while in prison. Our rebelling students can’t obtain one degree even though they at the university. Instead, they’ll tear the campuses down.

The memory of Ahmed Kathrada is all the more illuminating because this simple, honest and humble soul contrasts starkly with the dark matter of greed, corruption, and arrogance that otherwise permeates throughout his party.

The ultimate respect for all races and religions for one human being, as shown by the love and solemnity during the funeral procession is sharply contrasted by the disdain, anger, sorrow and frustration of another human being, intentionally and shamefully excluded from the funeral! Ese.

Municipality

Dhayalan Moodley is an official praise singer for the eThekwini Municipality and government. Editor, please note, we need critical thinkers when we are dealing with service delivery, not people singing praise when the city is burning. TJ.

Politics

Helen Zille should not apologise for her tweet. What she said was nothing but the truth. She did not praise the colonists. All she said was they must be credited for some of the good they did for the country for all to enjoy. I am no fan of Zille, nor a supporter of her party, but an objective observer. HG Moodley, Shallcross.

The Gordhan issue. Zuma is at it once again embarrassing the country. It’s shocking how the top 6 in the ANC accept such behaviour from their discredited president. He has no concerns for the economy. His personal ambitions are being pursued at the expense of the entire country and nobody seems to care.

Guptas in court to defend their corrupt activities and relationships to the political elite. The state capture report had to be fully investigated to determine the extent of the Guptas influence in government. All those implicated must be subjected to severe punishment. Proved to be true.

I believe we have to be very concerned if JZ fires Gordhan and intelligent South Africans and big business don’t act immediately and decisively. While Gordhan is not indispensable a look at his track record speaks volumes. He turned Sars into a user-friendly office and increased the tax base. His commitment, honesty, and integrity are beyond reproach. It’s obvious he is giving the cronies no leeway to plunder. In order to get their grubby hands into the cookie jar they have to dump him, and so clumsily at that. Sies.

Sport

Although Bafana Bafana did not score against Angola, I enjoyed watching them play. Please keep these players plus the bench. Just leave these old players out. They are past their sell-by date. These players are young, hungry and looking sharp on the field. They gave me confidence. Please keep these players if you want to play in the World Cup come 2018. Well played Bafana Bafana in the last two games. Camel
