Film-maker first up for KZN Exporter of Year prize

AN UP-AND-COMING awardwinni­ng movie writer, director and producer, whose movies are proving to be hits at home and internatio­nally, is one of the first entrants in the annual KZN Exporter of the Year Awards.

Durban-born and raised Bianca Isaac has written feature films, such as The Jakes Are Missing, which has been seen on a variety of TV channels around the world, as well as released around South Africa and in Africa. It has also been flighted on SAA’s internatio­nal flights and is due to be shown on Ethiopian Airlines this month.

She is currently in pre-production for her second feature as a writer/producer and will make her directoria­l debut in 3 Days to Go, a family drama comedy starring Bollywood actress Lillete Dubey, as well as Leeanda Reddy and Jailoshini Naidoo. It will be distribute­d by Ster Kinekor.

Isaac has entered a new category – Creative Industries – in the annual Exporter of the Year Awards, which is for companies operating in the creative arts, culture and movie industry.

The awards event is a partnershi­p between the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Transnet Port Terminals.

Now in its 17th year, the high- profile competitio­n recognises and celebrates exporters in the region, while stimulatin­g growth.

There are 10 categories and entries are open to all exporters in the province, with the organisers stressing the competitio­n is not restricted to DCCI members only.

The winners will be announced at the awards gala dinner at the Durban ICC on October 19. The closing date for entries is September 1.
