Departure was long overdue

GOOD riddance! The resignation of Dr Ben Ngubane and expulsion of Hlaudi Motsoeneng should bring joy to the nation – this was long overdue.

The pillars of Zumafication are weakened, leaving the Gupta and Zuma families and their surrogates in the state and parastatals vulnerable.

Ngubane joined the ANC after seeing that the IFP was weakened. This was opportunism. In the Zumafication and Zulufication of the SABC and Eskom, the Saxonwold Deployment Committee deployed him to these Chapter Nine insti- tutions.

At the SABC ad hoc committee and Scopa meetings, Ngubane was extremely arrogant, effectively showing the committees dominated by ANC members the middle finger.

Like Ngubane, Motsoeneng was a puppet of the Saxonwold shebeen, which is characterised by taking money from the SABC to fund The New Age. Ngubane and Motsoeneng are not the only guilty ones, but the entire ANC should take responsibility.

The New Age is the heritage of the ANC. It was established to fight the apartheid and colonial regimes. It was edited by Ruth First and Govan Mbeki, Brian Bunting and Joe Gqabi were its journalists. It exposed the exploitation of prisoners in the Bethal potato farms. Today The New Age is a parasite on the SABC and sides with the Zuma faction in the ANC. Jimmy Manyi uses this newspaper to attack anyone who irritates the Saxonwold Deployment Committee.

In biting the dust, Ngubane and Motsoeneng follow other Saxonwold Shebeen surrogates like Khomotso Phahlane, Berning Ntlemeza, Brian Molefe, Dina Pule, Sicelo Shiceka, Ellen Tshabalala and Nomgcobo Jiba, but big elephant Zuma and his babies like Bathabile Dlamini, Dudu Myeni, Sdumo Dlamini, Mosebenzi Zwane, David Mabuza, Ace Magashule, David Mahlobo, Malusi Gigaba and Norbert Buthelezi are still in the room.
