Why have Zuma and Watson not been arrested yet?
POLITICS
Does anyone know when M Sutcliffe and D Naidoo are going to appear at the Zondo Commission? We need to know about all the municipal property sold by “private treaty” and the billions siphoned from ratepayers.
Bosasa arrests. Why have Zuma and Watson not been arrested yet? My money says they never will be. | Graham Rice
Gwede Mantashe has taken journalists on a tour of his properties to prove that he didn’t benefit from Bosasa security installations as alleged at the commission. He only took journalists many days after the allegations emerged.
He had much time to undo the evidence.
Eskom. If cadres earning R100k/ pm can’t fix machines, fire them and re-employ technicians (R30k/pm) who can. | Robert
South Africa should forget about getting whistle-blowers because they don’t want to be arrested. Angelo Agrizzi – a whistle-blower – was arrested.
UNIVERSITY PROTESTS
Thandwa Mthembu says that protests at universities are “orchestrated”. I would like to know what is not orchestrated in South Africa? Building of shacks, taxi industry behaviour, job placements and promotions, police inaction, crime, etc, and the list goes on. People of power are really unfair in this country and are the ones who control this orchestration!
Maybe an urgent priority for all institutions of higher learning would be to educate our future young leaders on skills to engage in procedurally correct ways to deal with their grievances. If this fails with university/college managements then student representatives should be afforded the opportunity to summon assistance from government officials from the Department of Higher Education and Training to try to resolve issues. Unruly and violent protests must be avoided at all costs. Maybe our country can then set a high standard of respect for law and order among young leaders.
I suggest, as an honest taxpayer, that all universities shut down for the entire academic year. Students are vehement in their protestations about their inability to meet their financial debt obligations. Observe how well they dress, their possession of top-of-the-range cell- and iPhones and their outrageous social interactions and their penchant for good food. Makes one wonder.
ETHEKWINI MUNICIPALITY
I went for a walk along the beachfront promenade from Snake Park to the Rachael Finlayson Pools. I was shocked by the extremely poor lighting in this area. The promenade had a high volume of visitors but the lack of adequate lights left me dismayed. There are simply not enough light poles, and on every pole that does exist there were many globes not working at all. I thought there was a beach manager. He is clearly not doing his job. | Linda
Being a pensioner I suggest that the eThekwini Municipality should not charge interest on bills that are in arrears. | Vee Ram
Walking along the beachfront promenade I noticed a number of cyclists at night, speeding. What is the point of racing at night? It is extremely dangerous. There are children, couples, prams. It takes just one person stopping suddenly or one child to change direction and a serious accident would happen. The police force were out in numbers but did nothing to slow down these cyclists. If you want to kill yourself do so quietly at home. But don’t jeopardise other members of the public. | Angelo
ODDS AND ENDS
JP. They can’t send in the Casspirs because nobody has been trained to use them. Hopefully we don’t have too many more violent protests before someone can actually operate these vehicles. Who knows how long this might take. Even when they are in operation the metro police will still just sit and watch proceedings and not do anything to stop the protests. | Graham Rice
I hope our local education authorities are fixing and maintaining all school properties after the Driehoek tragedy.
