Nicaragua bill

MANAGUA: Nicaragua yesterday criticised a proposal by US lawmakers. The government was responding to the Nicaraguan Investment Conditionality Act, a bill passed on Wednesday.

The bill proposes blocking Nicaragua from obtaining international loans unless the country “is taking effective steps to hold free, fair, and transparent elections”.

Nicaraguans will vote on November 6.
