Deputy mayor Fawzia Peer, left, was a guest at the opening of a special needs playground for the 41 children living with cerebral palsy at the Natal Settler’s Memorial Homes in Umbilo, when specialise­d wheelchair­s and television­s were also handed over. The event was hosted by philanthro­pist Razak Moosa and his wife Shereen on behalf of their daughter, Ghazala, who has had to overcome many obstacles living with cerebral palsy. Guests were welcomed by members of the nonprofit organisati­on, Helping Hands 786, who partnered with Moosa to facilitate the R500 000 in donations. Joining the deputy mayor at the ribbon-cutting were Ghazala, Razak and Shereen Moosa and Belinda Naidoo, the general manager of the Natal Settler’s Memorial Homes.
