Hunt on for female tech innovators
THE World Economic Forum’s search for Africa’s top five female tech innovators has entered it final lap, with just three weeks to go before the application process closes.
The selected innovators will be invited to take part in the forum’s annual African meeting to be held in Durban next month.
The search is open to female entrepreneurs whose business, which must be less than three years old, uses innovative technology or business models.
The business must have had at least one year of revenue generation and be able to demonstrate social and economic potential.
“Africa’s best prospects for inclusive growth lie in its ability to tap into its vast pool of entrepreneurial talent,” said Elsie Kanza, WEF’s Africa head.
“We want Africa’s top female tech entrepreneurs to join us so we can celebrate them as role models and so they can help governments and policymakers create conditions for others to flourish.”
The 2017 World Economic Forum on Africa, from May 3-5, will be held under the theme Achieving Inclusive Growth.
The closing date for submission of entries for Africa’s top female innovators is April 17.
