Call for Sparks Road speed calming action

DISGRUNTLED Sydenham residents have held a placard demonstration along Moses Kotane (Sparks) Road calling for speed calming measures to be implemented similar to those on Florida Road.

The high accident rate and the latest death of a young boy crossing near Barns Road last week, motivated the community into staging the protest during peak traffic on Friday. They blocked off one lane on either side of the road between Barns and Saunders roads.

Community representative Craig Esbend said: “It seems as if the eThekwini Traffic Authority would rather see more deaths on Sparks Road, as this issue doesn’t seem important to them.” – Daily News Reporter
