Sacking concern

ISTANBUL: Human Rights watchdog Amnesty Internatio­nal criticised the mass dismissal of public sector workers in Turkey after last July’s attempted coup.

Amnesty said today “the blanket nature” of the sackings and the fact that those fired include activists and critics of the government “increases concerns that a great many dismissals were arbitrary, unfair and/or politicall­y motivated”.
