SABC coverage of Comrades lacked professionalism

Politics

ANC babbling of unity is just cheap talk. The KZN youth league and the structure’s treatment of the national leadership at the conference at the weekend in Zululand shows disunity. Sihle Zikalala, the chairperson in KZN, clearly and openly supports Zuma, so the camps still exist.

Jacob Zuma may get away with all charges brought against him, but he will be held accountable on the day of judgment for all his wrongdoing. There will be no supporters or any singing and dancing. Dada.

The EFF is the greatest threat to democracy in this country. The very public racist rants of its leaders is a cause for concern. Time and again Malema, Shivambu, Ndlozi et al aim racist tirades against whites and Indians at any perceived slight against the masses. Soon it will be the Coloured population and anybody else who raises their ire. Students of history will point out the obvious similarities between the EFF and the Nazi Party in Hitler’s Germany. We know how that turned out. South Africans, you have been warned... Suffer the histrionics and the naked racism of the EFF any longer, and Mandela’s vision of a country where all its peoples live in harmony will be nothing but a dream that will have passed its sell-by date. Vijay.

Jacob Zuma finally admits to knowing other comrades who are corrupt. He was duty-bound while president, to report this corruption to the police, but failed to do so. Now he is resorting to blackmail. It shows the calibre of some of the ANC leadership.

Message to poorly educated and/or sleeping politicians. Electric cars that are environmentally friendly, cheap to run, and avoid expensive fuel imports, are available now. But the import duty is too high, and there are no quick charge points around the country to allow a long journey. The future is here, but few see it or do anything about it. Other countries give tax rebates on electric cars. I expect we will be last in the world to go electric. We are already last in education, digital migration, and other stuff. Please wake up, cut the endless talk and move your lazy selves. Mike.

The ANC makes a big hooha of how Mahatma Gandhi showed the way to freedom in this country. So why don’t they put their money where their mouth is and rename, for instance, Cape Town Airport after the Mahatma? E.s.essa.

“Don’t provoke me....!” Zuma. That is a clear message to all his ANC “buddies”. I go, you go with me... It’s very clear to all of us that he is now pointing his “machine gun” and going to use it... He is full of hatred and, sadly, he may have the last laugh if some quick thinking doesn’t come about. Parks.

On Friday Zuma warned that he would “spill the beans on those who continued to smear his name in public” and added that he “knew things about the people” who were talking about him. So is he implying that all the while he was protecting their corrupt practices? So what kind of a president was he that he knew about corruption, but took no action? He is behaving like a schoolboy who loses in a contest and then indulges in the sour grapes story. It’s high time he came clean and not make vague threats. He must face up to the charges. If he is not guilty, what is he afraid of ? Joe Citizen.

eThekwini Municipality

Cogta head Dube-Ncube. I smell a rat. Appointment of municipal managers and subsequent tenders to her husband’s company! Very unprofessional and unethical. Let the courts decide, like they always do. NS Westville.

The Premier, Willies Mchunu, has declared Ugu District a disaster area because of the water crisis. This is owing to alleged sabotage of the water infrastructure by municipal employees. If this is true, then why hasn’t anybody been charged with treason? Are the residents going to be perpetually held to ransom? Hash.

Yay! The useless municipality finds another way of getting income to the city (or is it the cops’ way of making their salary)... Comrades was on and the runners get tickets for parking on the road while getting their race packs. How ridiculous are the city cops? I wonder whose pockets are being lined now? VAJ.

Comrades Marathon expected to boost the economy of the city by R335 million. Hope this will bring our rates and tariffs down. TJ.

Odds and ends

No wonder children and young men are busy with drugs and alcohol... It is done in the open and they think it is cool. The shopping centre in Silver Tree Road.

Another Comrades marathon. Another shocking attempt to cover the event by the SABC. Plenty mispronounced names, commentators not taking their cues, twanging by black commentators and a host of unprofessional antics. Give it to people who know what to do. Neville.
