BERLIN: The clouds over the global economy had darkened, especially since the divisive summit of leaders from the Group of Seven, International Monetary Fund managing director Christine Lagarde said yesterday.

Lagarde, speaking at a news conference in Berlin with the chiefs of leading economic organisations, said business confidence was declining because of measures that disrupted trade.
