Praise for City council for pre-Comrades route clean up

As a pensioner, what does one do when you get to the clinic and the Sister tells you to go and buy the medication you need with the money that you get? When will the health minister sort out his mess?

The government is clever. When they need more money, they push up the price of petrol. When the petrol price goes up, delivery costs go up, which means stores have to put the prices of goods up, which means the government makes millions more on VAT, but when petrol comes down, the price stays the same. Makes you think that we are all getting caught, even if you are rich or poor. Thanks, Buzz.

Andrew Bishop, I tend to agree with you when you say there is nepotism within the DA. Haniff Hoosen has his wife working within the DA.

The ANC government has got a big surprise waiting for them when they wake up from their 23-year long sleep. Ethiopia is now Africa’s fastest growing economy, attracting foreign investment. Stateowned entities are going to foreign investors who have the experience to manage them better. The army and intelligence are in the hands of educated and properly trained people. The country is changing fast to attract foreign investment. There are other African countries that are changing to attract foreign investment in manufacturing. Keep protesting here in SA, let the crime grow, keep on striking. All of these acts just make it easier for investors to go next door.

Ramaphosa scolds the DA MP by telling him to “shut up!” While Trump accuses Canada’s President Trudeau of being “weak’’ and “dishonest”, and Trudeau responds by exclaiming that Trump is “insulting” the Canadian people by using “trade tactics” in the name of “national security”. Usage of language among leaders is dropping to such childish levels that they should not be called dignitaries any longer? Ese

Hi, MEC of Health Dr Dhlomo. Do you have any idea of the hours your hospital admin staff work? I believe that the hours of business are 7.30am to 4pm. A good number of them don’t arrive until after 8am, and they leave before 4pm. Just something that you may want to investigate! Oh, and that does not include the extended tea and lunch breaks. I dare you to investigate. Taxpayer.

Comrades

O why can’t we have the Comrades twice a year? Our Sherwood, the neglected garden suburb of Durban, is looking spick and span and beautiful again. They cut and trimmed the grass and trees, cleaned the sidewalks and gutters and even chased the sheriff of Nottingham away. Sherwood looked just awesome on TV. Sport is the best catalyst to bring everyone together, and our lovely country needs this… The comradeship and joy among the spectators was just electrifying. Well done, city council, and the Comrades organisers. God bless. Salaams and Duas, Yusuf Patel and Robin Hood.

Did you know? There are no squatter camps on the Comrades Marathon route. How about that?

Is it not wonderful that the streets have been cleaned for the marathon? So, if it’s possible for the race, why are they not cleaned more often?

There are more people at Moses Mabhida Stadium watching the finish of the Comrades Marathon than when the national football team puts in an appearance. Bob Curtis, Waterfall.

Odds and ends

Public perception: In meting out justice to criminals, it is often said that we should treat criminals as “innocent until proven guilty”. These days some of our criminals should be treated as “guilty until proven innocent”.

Bad sporting weekend for the English. Rugby team lost, 7s rugby team lost. Both men and women cricket teams lost, and Lewis had a poor F1. On the plus side, the soccer World Cup did not start – not that they’re going to win that!

The BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement thinks that it has won because Argentina has cancelled their match with Israel through the BDS terror threats to the Argentinian team, but honestly, the BDS has just proven what they actually are: terrorists! There is no fine line between protests and death threats! Argentina is not cancelling because they now see the BDS cause.

?? ?? @hassanazh. No doubt, Steyn is the outstanding bowler. But basically he stands outside the team most of the time, because of so many injuries. I hope he’ll play more than one Test this time.

?? ?? @SportsNut24 A fit Dale Steyn is always good to have in your team. Let’s hope he stays fit a while longer to attain some of his goals.

?? ?? @lucky. Just hope he bowls more overs than his previous comebacks. Heartbreaking to see him limp off the field every time he is in whites for Proteas.
