EFF claims of being pro-poor ironic
THE EFF executive made wild claims in the name of the poor yet the night before releasing the party’s manifesto they were happy to go to a fancy restaurant, dressed in suits and bow-ties – the dress of the colonialists – and sipped on expensive wine which likely came from a colonialist winery.
Julius Malema is happy to dress in and indulge in the food and drink of the colonialist, and then comes to Parliament in overalls pretending to be pro-poor, in denial of financial benefits received through VBS. The VBS scandal has dented the party’s efforts to portray itself as a voice of the poor. The EFF claims to represent the poor, but under those red overalls are expensive designer suits.
This makes the case of the EFF being a “people’s party’’ a farce.
The EFF criticises capitalism for controlling the country’s wealth, but its leaders are the first to distort BEE in their favour and go about systematically creating a small black elite, out of touch with ordinary South Africans, but happy to preach with moral bitterness from the nearest soap box.
