TALENT Chawapiwa is targeting a dream debut at AmaZulu as they gear up to face Cape Town City on Saturday at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi at 8.15pm.

The dribbling wizard signed for Usuthu before the close of the January transfer window.

Chawapiwa was a constant figure at his previous club, Baroka FC.

He dazzled the masses with his pace and silky skills and subsequently was on the radar of both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Speaking with the media yesterday at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Chawapiwa expressed his desire to start on a positive note with his home debut.

“I’m settling down well, “Chawapiwa said.

“They have welcomed me with open arms. I’ve found even an apartment. I feel at home already. The environment is right for me and my football. I’m looking forward to the game against Cape Town City. It is a new challenge for me but I want to start well. Fans always come in their numbers whenever AmaZulu are home and I don’t want to disappoint if I’ll play.

The left footed winger replaced the departed Emiliano Tade, who is now on the books of Sundowns.

“It is going be a great feeling to play in-front of the home fans. I’m sure they are looking forward to see me in the field of play. It is a going to be a good atmosphere for me in-front of my home fans. It will be an emotional day for me,” he added.

Chawapiwa explained his decision to join AmaZulu instead of Chiefs and Sundowns.

“I’m a national team player (for Zimbabwe), I didn’t want to disappoint my fans. They want to see me playing week-in and week-out.

“AmaZulu was a good option for me in terms of getting more game time. I spoke with the coach (Cavin Johnson) and he said if I work hard, he will make me a better player.

“Joining AmaZulu is a big step up in my career,“Chawapiwa elaborated.

AmaZulu will be looking to get back to winning ways at home having lost their previous two encounters there against Kaizer Chiefs and Highlands Park. They have done well at home this season.
