year around 9.30pm in Kakamas.

“The complainant was woken up by his dogs barking. Upon investigating, he found that one of the windows of his house had been broken and Pieters was inside the house. The accused ran away when he was questioned about how he got inside the house,” Steenkamp said.

Detective Constable Strauss took over the investigation and the suspect was arrested two days later.

Station Commander, Colonel De Bruin, yesterday applauded Strauss for a job well done, pointing out that his dedication and hard work made it possible to secure the sentence.

“Kakamas police experience a lot of housebreakings and it is hoped that this sentence will send a strong message to intended perpetrators.”
