MOUNTAIN BIKE RACING

-

Mountain Bike League set to go IT’S ALL systems go this weekend for the much anticipated Spur Restaurant sponsored Schools Mountain Bike League race which takes place at 8 Mile dirt track. These MTB races were launched way back in 2009.

Spokesperson for the co-organisers, Alpha Beta Cycles’ Erika Venter, confirmed that everything has been finalised for what is hoped to be the successful staging of the event.

Venter put out a last minute reminder that schools interested in entering teams for the race can still bring in entries until the morning of race day tomorrow, from 8.30am to 9.15am.

Local schools with the most entries to this weekend’s race will get preference for selection to the national mountain bike race in Magaliesberg; that race is due to take place in October this year.

The race is open to both boys and girls in primary and high school.

The first leg of the three part race in the Northern Cape took place in Benfontein on the N8 route to Bloemfontein in May this year. The third and last leg of the Northern Cape portion of the race will be held at Marrick farm next Saturday.

Tomorrow’s 8 Mile race will take place over a 30km and a 60km section.
