PROVINCE The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will visit Northern Cape municipali­ties from July 21 to 24 to monitor progress, the state of their finances and service delivery.

Community meetings will be held in Galeshewe (Sol Plaatje Municipali­ty) and Pampiersta­d (Phokwane Municipali­ty) on Thursday at 5.15pm to discuss service delivery challenges.

The delegation, led by NCOP deputy chairman Raseriti Tau, will also visit Sol Plaatje University and Lerato Park.

Meetings will be scheduled with the Premier, Members of the Executive Council (MECs), department­s, the Northern Cape Provincial Legislatur­e and the South African Local Government Associatio­n (Salga). KIMBERLEY The police are seeking the assistance of community members in tracing the family of an unknown woman who was found dead in a street in Roodepan at the weekend.

Police spokesman, Sergeant Majang Skalkie, said yesterday that the police received a report of a body of an unknown woman lying in Raven Street, Roodepan, at around 4.25am on Saturday.

“On arrival, the police found the woman, approximat­ely 40 years old, lying on the ground inside a yard. She had no visible injuries on her body and was dressed in purple ankle boots, blue tracksuit pants and a green top,” Skalkie said.

The police are appealing to the community to assist them in tracing the family of the deceased.

Anyone who might have informatio­n about the woman’s family is asked to contact the investigat­ing officer, Detective Warrant Officer Johan Nel of Roodepan police station, on 083 837 7288.
