New headmaster for St Patrick’s
JACQUES Tredoux has taken over as the new headmaster at St Patrick’s CBC after Bruce Phillips, who was headmaster for the past 10 years, left to take up a new position in Cape Town.
“My appointment as the new principal is a tremendous responsibility and St Patrick’s CBC has a history of more than a hundred years of exceptional leadership that has built a strong foundation for the College and an exciting future,” Tredoux said.
He and his family recently moved from Welkom to Kimberley where he was Deputy Head, in charge of Pupil Affairs, at the St Dominic’s College.
His wife, Jo-Marie, will take over marketing at St Patrick’s and boasts 20 years in retail marketing.
She grew up in Oudtshoorn while Jacques grew up in Pretoria.
“We believe that everyone involved and interested in providing an excellent education in a strong faith-based school, will work with Tredoux in an effort to provide the ultimate learning as well as life experience, for St Patrick’s learners,” chairman of the school governing body, Adrian Horwitz, said.
He added that Tredoux is a respected educator who has pursued a career in education inspired by his own love of learning and his passion to empower young people to step outside their comfort zones and to flourish in an increasingly complex world.
Tredoux taught at secondary level for the past 11 years and another five at tertiary level.
“I want every learner to leave our school bursting with confidence, trusting in their ability to make wise decisions, to positively influence the world around them, and have an understanding of how to bounce back in the face of adversity,” Tredoux said.
“I am also looking forward to learning and growing within the Kimberley community.”
