of the Colesberg conference come what may.”

Other members stated that there were 3 000 members in the ZF Mgcawu region who were also excluded from the database.

“We are still busy auditing and if you look at the number of members in good standing who were excluded, it could make a remarkable difference to the outcome of the elective conference. We want all branch general meetings to be reconvened before the conference goes ahead.

“How can there be unity if 90 percent of the processes were stolen. We will reject the proposal to unite under the banner of the Zamdesh group led by provincial secretary Zamani Saul to be the new ANC provincial chairperson.”

ANC members added that talks were taking place behind closed doors to remove MECs from the provincial cabinet who are loyal to Saul and are not supporting Premier Sylvia Lucas to be elected as the incoming ANC provincial chairperson.

“There are key role-players from the Sylvia camp who have approached the Zamdesh group to secure positions for themselves.”

In another section of Du Toitspan Road that was closed off to traffic yesterday, a small group of ANC supporters, who did not want to talk to the media, chanted and toyi-toyied.

The ANC, however, is adamant that the provincial elective conference will go ahead in Colesberg next week .

ANC provincial spokeswoman Naledi Gaosekwe denied that any PEC meeting was under way or that there would be any provincial cabinet reshuffle.

“The ANC has not received any interdict and the conference will take place as planned from May 11 to 14,” said Gaosekwe.
