ON SUNDAY night, well-known actor and Jozi FM DJ Mandla Hlatshwayo, with his friend Oupa “Chom Chom” Duma, were killed during a botched robbery at the Pimville, Soweto pub.

It’s believed the two were trying to protect and help several women leave the pub during the robbery.

“He was still breathing when I asked him to hold onto my hand and blink until the ambulance arrived. We waited for over one hour for the ambulance to arrive until he left us.”

These were the harrowing last few minutes that Mandla Hlatshwayo’s partner, was able to spend with her lover.

The young woman, witnessed the brutal killing and held her lover’s hand as he took his final breath.

According to the 27-year-old, Hlatshwayo was tragically shot after trying to protect two ladies who entered the pub claiming to be under attack by a couple of young guys with a gun.

“So Mandla got up from where we were sitting and went out to help the ladies,” she said.

“I didn’t see anything, I just heard the gunshots. When I ran outside to see what happened, I saw his friend lying in front of the door and Mandla a couple of meters away,” she said.

Describing Hlatshwayo’s final hours before the confrontation, she said that he was very happy and excited for no apparent reason.
