KIMBERLEY The Sol Plaatje Municipality’s traffic administrative section at Pioneer House in Phakamile Mabija Street will be closed for enquiries from Monday until Wednesday next week, due to software migration and training.
Municipal spokesperson, Sello Matsie, said that the reporting of accidents and the payment of traffic fines would, however, continue as usual at the Pioneer House offices.
Matsie added that the municipality apologised for the inconvenience.
KIMBERLEY The Department of Energy will host the Learners Focus Week in Energy next week at Sol Plaatje University.
The Learners Focus Week Programme is aimed at promoting skills development amongst the youth, by creating awareness and exposure of career opportunities within the energy sector for Grade 10 to 12 pupils studying STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
Energy Department spokesperson, Thandiwe Maimane, said yesterday that the weeklong programme was dedicated to addressing a shortage of technical skills in the sector that requires ongoing intervention by the government and its stakeholders, to promote skills development amongst the youth.
“The department will undertake this programme in partnership with the Northern Cape provincial government and energy sector organisations.”
The opening ceremony will take place on Sunday at the Tabernacle Church from 9am to 4pm.
The event will last until Friday and closes with an award ceremony.
NATIONAL The man accused of allegedly plotting to assassinate senior government officials perceived as beneficiaries of state capture, including members of cabinet, appeared briefly in the Joburg Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
The matter is back in court on August 4.
