Tight scores a feature in SPCA’s weekend fund-raiser at the KGC

PARTICULAR­LY competitiv­e scores marked the results of Saturday’s annual SPCA Golf Fund-raiser. An individual stableford, three players returned 44 points.

The count-out placed young Christoffe­l Posthumus first, Cedric van der Ross second and Neville Alexander third. Pierre Fourie was fourth on 43 points, Muzaph Allie was fifth on 39 in a count- out from the final prize-winner Thys Groenewald.

Ivan Coetzee recorded 22 points to win the Sun Flamingo Niner on Friday evening.

Two players returned 21 points, the count-out deemed Luchmen Poonawassy the runner-up and Flex Ranto third. A further two players returned 20 points, Conrad Fortune deemed fourth and Fareez Alexander fifth.

A count-out on 22 points was required in the Thursday KWV Powerplay Niner. Luchmen Poonawassy was placed first and Evan Painting the runner-up. Both players recorded a powerplay sixpointer.

Susan Alexander, alone on 20 points was third, but top of the powerplay count with an eight pointer on the 16th. Dave Benade, Nico Ross and Wedge Crozier also recorded a powerplay six-pointer on the day.

Competitiv­e scores were the order of the day in the Wednesday Insurance Brokers IPS. Mike Vigne topped the day posting 43 points. The runner-up was Harry Welham on 42. Jacques Kriek was third on 41 points.

OUR LOOK AHEAD

This Wednesday at the

KGC, the Women’s Day Public Holiday is celebrated by the Ladies Section hosting their annual Golf Fund-raiser. A betterball stableford, there are some R10 000 worth of prizes on offer. Members are urged to enter.

On Thursday, it is the KWV Niner, with Friday seeing the Sun Flamingo Niner. This will be followed the snowball draw that currently stands at R3 150, thanks to the absence of Gary Hepburn last Friday.

On Saturday, the KGC hosts the Ladies Sanlam Cancer Challenge Regional Finals, while the club hosts the monthly medal and the Seniors hold their monthly outing.

On Sunday, a new monthly competitio­n commences, the OBC Chicken IPS in which the standard rules pertaining to 18 hole KGC club competitio­ns apply. However, there will be no formal morning or afternoon tee-off times nor a formal prize-giving in the evening.

The winners will be announced on Tuesday through social media. The competitio­n fee will be R30.
