KIMBERLEY Premier Sylvia Lucas and the MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Mac Jack, will launch the Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition at the Northern Cape Theatre at 10am today.

The conference will be attended by representatives from Eskom and Independent Power Producers, as well as the Minister of Energy, Mmamoloko Kubayi, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Rob Davies, the Minister of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Des Van Rooyen, and the Minister of Small Business Development, Lindiwe Zulu.

POSTMASBURG A multi-disciplinary team, consisting of the SAPS, the Tsantsabane Unemployment Forum, the Tsantsabane Labour Desk, and Tsantsabane Local Municipality, will form part of a stakeholder platform to respond to a list of grievances that were brought forward by the Save Tsantsabane Coalition (STC) and the EFF.

Responses were sent by Anglo American Kumba Iron Ore, Assmang Iron Ore and Ringside Iron Ore, where commitments were made to employ the local workforce, reduce unemployment and invest in the community.

Alister Davids from the STC stated that the response was “vague and devoid of meaningful feedback”. He said that community meetings would be arranged to present the response of the mines and also to elect community representatives to participate in the forum.

PROVINCE Only 197 branch delegates from the Northern Cape will attend the ANC national conference in December.

This follows after the party instructed branches last week to start nominating delegates for its December elective conference.
