A Joyous celebration

-

EXCITEMENT for Kim-Fest 2017, featuring the 63-strong Joyous Celebration Band, is mounting amongst local residents.

The event has built a legion of loyal followers over the years, and tomorrow’s much anticipated show is set to once again leave the crowds mesmerised with powerful gospel music, wonderful dance moves and a glamorous wardrobe.

While many could not wait for this opportunity to witness this performance live, it is through the vision of the Northern Cape Arts and Culture Council and the Sol Plaatje Municipality that this event has become a reality for the people of the Northern Cape.

The stage design for the Joyous Celebration “Heal Our Land” Tour is quite unique, and it’s layout compliments the quality of the sound and lighting which will deliver a memorable performance by the artists.

Those who are set to attend the concert at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre have also been urged to arrive early at the venue in order to support the supporting acts.

While provincial government is creating some opportunities for these artists to perform at various events, annual shows like Kim-Fest can also contribute immensely to the development of local talent.

The Sol Plaatje Municipality Choir has been spending a lot of time in practice. The choir leader, Kego Ntlangwini, said that they are delighted to be afforded an opportunity to perform on the same stage with other established artists.

The iconic Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre has prepared very well for another sold out concert.

“To date, over 15 gospel groups and choirs have been afforded an opportunity to perform along Joyous, and this has been a huge morale-boosting initiative that is assisting artists to showcase their talent and skills, with the hope that they will eventually reach their full potential by recording and releasing their own albums and become commercially successful.

“This is a significant project that needs to be fully embraced by the entire community, and in demonstrating our commitment to the people of the Northern Cape, plans are under way to ensure that Joyous will in future perform in other districts in the Province,” said Manne Thebe, chairperson of the Northern Cape Arts and Culture Council.

This has been an incident free event, and once more security will be out in full force to ensure that everyone attending will be safe and afforded an opportunity to enjoy this memorable evening.
