Province gets more ambulances

IN A quest to provide faster emergency health-care services, the Northern Cape Department of Health yesterday distributed 18 fully equipped ambulances to different districts in the Province.

The MEC of health, Lebogang Motlhaping said the distribution is a sign of the strides made by the department to ensure a better health service delivery to communities.

“As we approach the busiest time of the year, the provision of these ambulances have come at a strategic time when more of our people will be on the roads.

“The release of the ambulances will also relieve concerns of our people and will improve our state of readiness. Our endeavours would mean nothing if the experience of our patients of the service we provide does not improve and translate to quality of life,” Motlhaping said.

He said communities will now have speedier access to health services.

Trained, qualified personnel will man the ambulances, Motlhaping said.

“In terms of ensuring a ready workforce to provide efficient services, our college provides excellent training and development to our employees.

“In this calendar year, our college has produced 34 qualified intermediate life support personnel that enrolled this year,” he said.

Motlhaping added the department has already started to place orders for new ambulances for the 2018/2019 financial year.
