Cops make huge dagga busts

THREE dagga plantation­s were discovered in Galeshewe and the John Taolo Gaetsewe district, where dagga was confiscate­d during crime intelligen­ce operations that were conducted over the weekend

Police spokespers­on, Lieutenant Colonel Dimakatso Mooi, said 13 dagga trees and 47 plants were found at the Dunstan shanties in Galeshewe during a raid conducted by Vispol and detectives from Galeshewe on Tuesday.

She indicated that the estimated street value of the plantation was R20 000.

“One suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Galeshewe Magistrate­s’ Court soon on a charge of dealing in dagga. Police investigat­ions are continuing.

“This was part of several operations held throughout the Province to ensure the safety and security of the community during this festive season.”

In a separate incident two suspects were arrested after two dagga plantation­s were discovered in two yards in the Ncweng village over the weekend.

Dried

Police spokespers­on, Captain Olebogeng Tawana, said that, as a result of crime intelligen­ce, police confiscate­d dried dagga with an estimated street value of more than R150 000.

He said the suspects, who were aged between 30 and 55 years, will face charges of dealing in dagga.

Tawana added that another suspect was arrested in theMarupin­g village after dagga was found in his house.

He said police also confiscate­d liquor worth R51 000 and arrested a 26-year-old woman for selling liquor without license on December 23 in the Bankhara village close to Kuruman.

He said the suspects are expected to appear in the Mothibista­d and Kuruman magistrate­s courts soon.
