DELPORTSHO­OP Eight suspects, including a 48-year-old Warrant Officer from Mahikeng in the North West Province, were arrested on Saturday evening in connection with the illegal hunting of blue wildebeest, worth thousands of rands, from Horing Doring communal farm.

Online prices for hunting a blue wildebeest are over R12 000.

Police spokespers­on, Brigadier Mohale Ramatseba, said the suspects, who were aged between 29 and 48 years, were arrested by police officers from Delportsho­op after following up informatio­n they received.

He stated that the carcasses of three blue wildebeest were recovered, while two rifles, a .303 and .308, were also confiscate­d from the suspects.

A Toyota double cab bakkie used by the suspects was also confiscate­d.

Ramatseba added that the suspects were expected to appear before the Barkly West Magistrate’s Court today pending further police investigat­ions.

GALESHEWE The police are requesting the public to assist in identifyin­g the body of man who was stabbed to death in Marang Street, Ipeleng in Galeshewe on January 8.

Police spokespers­on, Captain Bashoabile Kale, said that the deceased was 1.67 metres tall, slender in build and was dressed in a blue Delela jeans overall, black Nike sneakers and a navy blue Ballantine’s cap.

Kale added that the deceased was riding a maroon and black bicycle.
