Cops nab Petrusbuburg assault suspects
CAUGHT: Three men believed to have been involved in the shooting of two policemen in Koffiefontein were arrested. THREE suspects, allegedly involved in an assault GBH, sexual assault and a discharging of firearm incident in Petrusburg on Tuesday, were arrested in Kimberley during lunchtime yesterday.
The three wanted suspects, travelling in an Opel Kadett, were apprehended and arrested in Oliver Road, near the Diamond Pavilion Mall. at around 1.30pm.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Sergio Kock, police in Kimberley received information about three suspects travelling from the Free State en route to Kimberley, after they were allegedly involved in a recent assault GBH, sexual assault and the discharging of firearm in a municipal area incident in Petrusburg.
“The Kimberley police stopped the vehicle on the N8 as the suspects entered the city. With the assistance of NC Provincial Organised Crime, the Flying Squad, Search and Rescue Unit, K9 Unit, Vehicle Crime Investigations Unit, Local Criminal Record Centre, and in conjunction with the Free State Police, the three men were arrested at about 1.30pm,” Kock said.
The suspects, who are between 39 and 42 years old, were taken to Petrusburg where they are being detained. They are expected to appear in the Petrusburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
