THIS AND THAT michelle cahill At least take the time to aim

-

I’M NOT one that really engages in playing games on my tablet and cellphone. I see these digital evils simply as necessary means of communication – nothing more, nothing less.

This is not to say that I haven’t given in to the temptation ever, but in general I have used the items for the purposes that they are intended.

However, just recently I have started using the “things” for activities other than the intended purpose.

The only reason for this is that you sit at your desk behind a computer working, then you get up from your desk and you take your cellphone with you … and you carry on working.

So I’ve decided on a little bit of escapism.

Don’t ask me how I found it, but I found it – I’m now indulging in online pool.

The way I’m justifying it is that you are still using your brain as it all involves strategy. Now I’m sure that a lot of you have played the game in your local pub and know exactly how it works.

The object is to sink the black ball after potting all your own balls. Now as you know there are SOLID and there are STRIPED balls. Please note the emphasis.

I see playing this game as a form of relaxation … but holy cow taking your shot. If not, you may just end up hitting the wrong ball and snookering yourself.

I’m sure you know of a lot of people who end up doing just that. They are then forced into a corner and just randomly try to scramble their way out of the situation – no matter at whose expense. As long as they can get out of it. Quite a high percentage actually put themselves in that position and then they blame others.

Oh trust me, I have silently sworn at my opponents when I have found (put) myself in that situation … It is always their fault. Why the hell are their balls in the way of mine?

Now I need to point out as well that there is a lot of finger pointing involved in this game. I mean how else are you going to hit your ball?

But, the aim, is to do the correct finger pointing and sink your ball. I just so wish that those who do finger pointing, know that there are fingers pointing back at them.

Aim straight, take the flak when you find yourself snookered. There are no do-overs in this game, although I know a lot of people would like to have them, including myself.

Live with the consequences of your decisions and don’t speculate over every single ball until your time runs out and you miss the shot.
