Police in Upington are investigating a case of possession of suspected stolen copper cable. According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Mohale Ramatseba, police followed up on information regarding a bakkie full of copper cable offloading at a house in Bellona Street.
The house was raided and police found six suspects busy peeling the copper cable. Six male suspects were arrested and police confiscated copper cable with an estimated value of R242 000.
The John Taolo Gaetsewe Trio Task Team arrested two male suspects following a business robbery in Kagung village, Kuruman.
The suspects, aged 33 and 35 years, allegedly robbed a tuck shop owner of airtime vouchers, groceries and an undisclosed amount of money.
Police are investigating a case of possession of suspected stolen property after a 45-year-old man was arrested on June 22. Copper cable with an estimated street value of
R22 500 was recovered in his car.
Police are searching for a man who robbed a victim of a cellphone at gunpoint. The victim was walking home on the Rooikoppies main road in January when four men came out of the veld and one of them approached the victim. The suspect allegedly took out a firearm, searched the victim, assaulted him and robbed him of his cellphone.
The suspect is an African male and was wearing a white cap, white T-shirt and black jeans and is light in complexion. Any person with information regarding the incident can contact Detective Constable Kajane on 081 590 2154.
