Health dept launches equality toolkit
THE NORTHERN Cape Department of Health launched the 120 Equality Terms Toolkit as part of closing off Women’s Month, to remind management and staff of the most common words used to achieve equality.
The toolkit is intended to assist managers in particular to better understand equality by building knowledge and vocabulary.
“The tool can be used in a variety of ways by making general information on women’s issues, disability and equality readily available,” explained department spokesperson, Lebogang Majaha.
“It is an inspiring tool to create a culture of
‘zero tolerance’ in the workplace, and will be a resourceful tool for policy development in the workplace.”
During the 2018 provincial women in health dialogue, attended by over a thousand women at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre on Friday, participants deliberated on the department’s overall responsibility to meet the target of having half of all senior management level positions filled by women and two percent of all occupational categories in the department represented by people with disabilities.
“The MEC used this platform to encourage women to take advantage of the many opportunities afforded to them by government, as gender equality is critical for the advancement of the country and women in particular,” Majaha said.
