KIMBERLEY A cancer awareness day will be held at the AR Abass Stadium tomorrow from 8am until 3pm. Various activities will take place at the event including entertainm­ent, a fun walk, cancer screenings and informatio­n on leading a healthy lifestyle.

KIMBERLEY The South African Local Government Associatio­n (Salga) will host the 2018 Provincial Members Assembly from November 26 to 27 at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre.

Delegates from Salga, political and administra­tive leadership of 31 municipali­ties in the Northern Cape, heads of government department­s, the acting/premier of the Northern Cape, the MEC for Co-operative Governance, Human Settlement­s and Traditiona­l Affairs, members of the Northern Cape Legislatur­e, stakeholde­rs from state entities and the private sector are expected to attend.

The Provincial Members Assembly will also consider Salga’s budget for the 2018/19 financial year, the proposed business plan for 2019/20 and reports on 2017/18 activities, from working groups and other oversight bodies.

JTG DISTRICT Eleven unemployed agricultur­al graduates from the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipali­ty have been employed by government in various sectors of agricultur­e, forestry and fisheries to reduce the high youth unemployme­nt rate.

External communicat­ions officer for the Department of Agricultur­e, Land Reform and Rural Developmen­t, Phemelo Manankong, said this was an initiative run by the Department of Agricultur­e, Forestry and Fisheries, the Department of Agricultur­e, Land Reform and Rural Developmen­t and Commodity Organisati­ons/ Farms.

He said that the sector aimed to create about 1 million jobs by 2030.
