Airport to host supplier roadshow
AIRPORTS Company South Africa’s (Acsa) Kimberley Airport will host an enterprise and supplier development (ESD) briefing that is part of a series of roadshows being hosted at regional airports.
The ESD workshop will be hosted today at the Protea Hotel at the Kimberley Big Hole. Registration opens at 8.30am and the workshop will conclude at 3pm.
Members attending the workshop in Kimberley will be briefed on Acsa’s transformation agenda, its implementation as well as implications on the company’s suppliers. The public will also be informed about business opportunities for emerging black-owned businesses at airports and the supplier selection criteria.
Corporate affairs senior manager for regional airports, Senzeni Ndebele said: “At Acsa we have a moral imperative to promote equality and to contribute towards correcting the imbalances of the past by ensuring that we align our business to reflect the demographics of South Africa and towards economic equality. The ESD workshops hosted at regional airports form part of our ongoing business objectives to assist people living below the poverty line to be part of the mainstream economy in the regions where our airports are based.”
ESD refers to the financial and non-financial support that Acsa provides to SMMEs to enhance their economic participation, stimulate job creation and encourage corporates to engage in a meaningful transformation. It also includes procurement from these SMMEs to help them grow.
The ESD workshops are open to all South Africans working in the aviation and airport management sectors.
It is recognised that there is a responsibility on those doing business with Acsa to contribute towards and align with the company’s broader transformation objectives.
The public will be addressed transparently on how supply chain management rules and processes apply through transformation.
