- A BRIEF ITINERARY

Join Drive Out and Bhejane 4x4 Adventures on an unforgettable tour to Zimbabwe.

DAY 1: We meet on the Zimbabwe side of the Plumtree Border Post just north of Francistown, Botswana. Our team is on hand to assist with border crossings. We then travel for about 1 hour to our campsite for the next two nights, which overlooks the majestic Matobo Hills. Over dinner we chat about the tour itinerary and get to know one another.

DAY 2: A Zimbabwean specialist tour operator and guide takes us into Matobo National Park. We spend the day game viewing, enjoying incredible scenery and visiting the final resting place of Cecil John Rhodes.

DAY 3: We make our way via Bulawayo to Masvingo to restock and refuel. Then we spend the afternoon at Great Zimbabwe and camp in the tranquil setting of the erstwhile great walled city.

DAY 4: We head north to Mana Pools National Park, camping for one night en route and visiting the Chinhoyi Caves.

DAYS 5,6 & 7: The real adventure begins! We spend the next three nights at Mana Pools on the banks of the Zambezi River. We are again hosted by a specialist Zimbabwean tour operator and guide. Prepare yourself for daily elephant visits, hippos grunting all night, curious lions and wandering buffalo. You will have two full days of game drives in Mana Pools. It’s a paradise for birders and photographers, and guided walks and fishing permits are available.

DAY 8: We camp on the shore of the lake in the tourist town of Kariba and enjoy dinner in the camp’s restaurant.

DAY 9: Today is a rest day, as we are not moving camp. There will be time to refuel and restock, and you can visit the Kariba Dam wall. We end the day with a sundowner cruise on Lake Kariba.

DAY 10: We leave early to reach our destination for the night: the town of Binga, where we camp on the edge of the lake. A narrow gravel track takes us over numerous low-level river crossings and a magnificent mountain pass with wonderful views of Lake Kariba.

DAY 11: We camp for the last two nights just outside Hwange National Park. DAY 12: We spend the whole day game viewing on Hwange’s good road network. There are numerous hides from which to watch animals and birds from up close.

DAY 13: After a hearty breakfast, we say our goodbyes. You can head up to Victoria Falls or start making your way home.
