More petrol power for your Landie
Diesel engines are becoming increasingly popular, but if you think petrol engines’ days are numbered, think again. Petrol engines are not only less dependent on fuel quality, but good petrol is also more readily available in Africa than good diesel – contrary to what many people might believe. That’s why it should come as no surprise to hear that Land Rover is introducing a new 2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine for its Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque in South Africa. The Evoque can be ordered with the Ingenium petrol engine that develops 117kW and 340Nm, which according to the company is 15% more effective than the Evoque’s previous petrol engine, with a fuel consumption of 7.3 litre/100km. There is also a version that develops 213kW and has a top speed of 231km/h. Customers who choose the latter will receive a Dynamic package that consists of bigger front and rear bumpers, a black grille and air intakes, as well as 20-inch wheels. The same engine in the Discovery Sport is only available in the 177 kW version and has an official fuel consumption of 8 litre/100 km.
