It’s a given; with any motoring industry shake-up, a few new players are bound to emerge – think Tesla or Rimac. And now, with automobile-related technology morphing into a widelyaccepted direction where volts are king and the combustion cycle just seems out of date, new opportunities to satiate mankind’s need for ever-increasing speed constantly presents itself. One such emerging player is Czinger. It has unveiled what it, very clinically I’ll add, calls the 21C. Whether that name has any significance other than an in-house codename I can’t say, but what I can tell you is that the 21C has, according to the carmaker, a verified power output of 1,250 horsepower (932 kW) courtesy of its in-house developed hybrid powertrain. The result is a claimed zero to 100 km/h sprint of 1.9 seconds. I’ll admit, the figures of conventional turna-key-for-noise hypercars just pale in comparison. But then again, the volts can’t seem to provide that effective all-round grunt for overcoming drag that, in turn, translates to matching top speeds. Interesting times.
