Beef and cab­bage curry with maize rice

SERVES 4-6 PREPA­RA­TION: 15 MIN COOK­ING: 1 HR 50 MIN

Drum Food - - CONTENTS -

15ml (1T) oil

500g beef goulash meat 1 onion, sliced

15ml (1T) curry masala 2,5ml (½t) turmeric

5ml (1t) ground ginger 2 to­ma­toes, chopped 400ml wa­ter

¼ cab­bage, shred­ded salt and pep­per

MAIZE RICE

500ml (2c) wa­ter 2,5ml (½t) salt 250ml (1c) maize rice

1 Heat the oil in a pot and brown the beef in batches. Re­move from the pot.

2 In the same pot, cook the onion un­til soft. Add the spices and cook for 2 min­utes or un­til fra­grant.

3 Add the to­ma­toes and wa­ter and sim­mer for 1 hour. Add the cab­bage and sim­mer for 30 min­utes. Sea­son with salt and pep­per.

4 MAIZE RICE Over medium heat, bring the wa­ter and salt to the boil in a pot. Re­duce the heat and stir in the maize rice. Cook, stir­ring with a fork, un­til the rice is ten­der. Re­move from the heat, cover and set aside for 5 min­utes. Serve with the curry.
