Put the interest of the citizens first
NOW that the ANC elective conference has come and gone, I trust the politicians will collectively have one New Year's resolution - to for once and for all serve the people of South Africa instead of jostling for positions and power.
For too long politicians have been keeping themselves busy with politicking at the cost of ordinary citizens, whose only wish is to have functional systems which will improve their quality of life.
So, apart from dealing with the still present disruptive power-hungry factions under his wing, Comrade Cyril will have his work cut out for him to put South Africa back on track.
He will have to move quickly and decisively to rid the country of the incompetent and corrupt officials which the ANC saw fit to still keep in senior positions.
Like our economy, it is a known fact that our education system and standards have also reached junk status, as did our health and crimefighting sectors.
One must accept that there are no quick fixes since at the time of writing this letter the JZ factor is still very much in play, but CR17 will no doubt keep himself busy getting his ducks in a row to put South Africa on the front foot again as soon as he takes over the helm.
If Ramaphosa proves to be another lip service junkie, the consequences for all of us will be too ghastly to contemplate.
So here's wishing Comrade Cyril a productive new year.
