WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT... ...right now!

- Editor Suzy Brokensha

Thuli Madonsela…

For the past seven years of her life, she has been the calm, incorruptible eye at the centre of a considerable storm. We owe her a debt of enormous gratitude, and our undying respect. Thank you, Advocate Madonsela, for your grace, integrity and enormous courage – we salute you!

Clarins Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow and Labello lip balm

Metallic bronze eyeshadow (this one is part of a limited-edition Clarins 2016 Summer Makeup collection) PLUS a must-have summer lip balm (Labello SPF 30 Sun Protect) = summer, sorted!

National Garden Day. It’s a Thing.

This is an urgent call to spend Sunday 9 October in your – or any – garden. National Garden Day is about being outdoors with your loved ones… not weeding or deadheading, just vegging (to keep the metaphors botanical) and enjoying. We love the idea of a day spent lolling under a tree, and are already looking forward to doing it again on the second Sunday in October 2017 – and every year after that. Did we mention how much we love the poster, too? Might just start collecting those…

Weirdly enough, Andy Murray…

…who, in an interview after he won gold at the Olympics, said this: Interviewer: ‘You’re the first person to win two gold medals.’

Andy: ‘Venus and Serena have won four each.’ Go Andy! #winning

The #MissingType campaign

This campaign really appeals to the crossword addict in me: the letters A, B, and O (all blood types) are being left out of signs and place names all over the world. The purpose? To remind us all that we need to remember to donate blood. Clever!
