A taste of major 2018 Food trends, some great new office lunch options and a culinary tour of the world – in Cape Town.

Societi Bistro Global Food Tour

The best way to get to know the country you’re travelling in is through its food – bite into a wedge of pizza in Naples and you’re really imbibing its ancient history – finding food is, after all, our primal instinct. But with the rand’s current exchange rate it doesn’t look like many of us will be travelling anywhere soon. So it’s great that Cape Town restaurant Societi Bistro has launched a ‘Global Tour of Food’ – a culinary journey covering 21 countries and including both rustic and sophistica­ted urban cuisine, with wine pairings too. It kicks off on 28 March, when head chef Robert Gijam will be presenting the first of his 21 menus. Regions covered include the Caribbean, Sicily, Spain, Portugal, Provence and the Middle East, as well as Japan and Mainland Asia. For more info, visit www.societi.co.za/bistros.
