TREATMENT: The RegimA Zone Power Peel Facial, R830 (60 min) SKINCARE RANGE: RegimA WHAT IT IS: A sloughing natural acid peel followed by a regenerating mask to increase radiance and elasticity, and reduce fine lines and age spots WHO DOES IT: The Laser Beautique in Cape Town

This satellite spa offers limited treatments (the Joburg branches are much more comprehensive). I opted for the RegimA Zone Power Peel Facial, which has a combination of six powerful fruit acids that have a lightening effect (better than hydroquinone) on sunspots.

RegimA feels very active: my skin was squeaky clean after the Derma Zest Cleansing and Toning Gel – which worried me slightly (it’s so dry anyway), but my therapist, Stephanie, reassured me that it cleanses and tones without drying out or stripping your skin. It did mean that the Power Peel she applied afterwards could really do its thing: I felt a little tingly and itchy while it was on, but Stephanie was monitoring it throughout. Once the peel had been removed, she used a Marine Replenishing Masque on my face which felt wonderful: nourishing and cool. She cleaned it off with the DZ Cleanse, then finished with an eye cream (I’m bad about remembering to do that myself, so that was good) and a moisturiser with SPF protection – essential anyway in our climate, but particularly after a peel.

My skin looked tighter and more radiant afterwards, and there did seem to be a slight lightening of the sunspot I’d developed on the bridge of my nose from my readers. I could still see the effects a few days later. THE LOWDOWN: 3rd floor, BUCS Gym, The Point, Regent Road, Sea Point Tel: 0861 850 851 www.thelaserbeautique.co.za Leigh Robinson
