Firstly, this is a beautiful spa – part of the Lanzerac Wine Estate in the Stellenbosch winelands, it has huge windows overlooking the mountains and vineyards. And the interior is exquisite. The stormy, moody walls and giant overblown roses blooming on the wallpaper make the space feels extravagantly womanly and gorgeous.

RVB is a luxury all-natural plant-based organic Italian range, vegan-friendly and gluten-free. Their anti-age range contains Collagen PRO to stimulate your skin into forming new collagen, which is a big plus, and HYALU SMART™PGA, which (by protecting your skin’s own hyaluronic acid) combats wrinkles and loss of tone – basically, it knocks the saggy bits into shape.

The treatment comprised a cleanse, peel, head and décolleté massage, and ended with a really wonderful hot stone massage on my face and neck – I’d never had a face massage with hot stones before, and it was fabulous.

The peel tingled and itched a little more than I am used to, but my skin looked considerably more dewy and plumped up afterwards: I was genuinely surprised when I first saw myself. I sat in the steam room for about 15 minutes after the facial and left feeling utterly relaxed, rehydrated and looking quite different (a lot better) than when I’d arrived. If your skin is dry, saggy and lacklustre, I highly recommend this treatment.
