YOUR HOROSCOPE

- By Angela Barry

Cancer 21 JUN – 22 JUL

Be still, beating heart – there’s no logical progression if you’re drowning in dread. Over this period, maintaining or even trying to invoke a little peace will reap astounding benefits. Focus on how you’re reacting to external events. Understanding your triggers will help to defuse them – for keeps.

Scorpio 23 OCT – 21 NOV

As a dedicated disciple of the improvement brigade, you know better than most how valuable self-care is. Which is why this period is a piece of cake – if you heed the call to kick stress where it hurts. Increased strain must be met with any tactic that calms and, better still, makes you happier than you were yesterday.

Pisces 19 FEB – 20 MAR

The very best home improvements seldom involve a hammer and nails. A little DIY in the comfort of your own space – anything involving the slightest stab at creativity – has a miraculous effect on your disposition. Languorous bath-taking, decluttering or a spot of painting could work like magic. Try it on for size.

Leo 23 JUL – 22 AUG

Your opinion may carry more weight than usual. Blessed with the bounty that is your brain, insights come thick and fast. But often, you choose to ignore inner voices or bat them away as megalomaniacal claptrap. Please don’t – that sage perspective will resonate with and help more people than you dreamed possible.

22 NOV – 21 DEC

Perhaps you’ve just had enough. Been there, done that, found it wanting. Or the itch that’s hard to scratch is a periodic lunge at escaping the rat race. Whatever you’re feeling, go with it

– and do something brave to embrace the yelping of your heart. A weekend away or, heaven forbid, a day’s break from the diet is A-okay.

Aries 21 MAR – 19 APR

Passion with a purpose is what floats your boat during this interlude. Be that as it may, expecting the unexpected – petty tyrants popping up at the most inconvenient times, for example – is smart. Do what you do well, and swat at the pettiness of others if they buzz too close. You’re on a good trajectory.

Virgo 23 AUG – 22 SEPT

Be spontaneously – but calculatingly – silly this month. Be like this at odd, even cringeworthy, times. Your children may duck and friends might call it a passing phase, but in the grand scheme of things, bursting out of your comfort zone is the simplest path to relinquishing an increasingly tense attitude towards life.

Sagittarius Capricorn 22 DEC – 19 JAN

A change of scenery might work, but if you’re stuck, try a little role play to boost waning cylinders and a droopy attitude. Pretending yourself happy is cheap as chips, and flexible: windowshopping; toe-jiggling in the river; eating with your fingers, on a blanket, on the stoep… it’s all good, and it heals more than an iffy heart.

Taurus 20 APR – 20 MAY

Taking stock of how far you’ve come in 2020 is vital for a more measured, wellpaced second half. Take a little private time, noting the priorities you’ve ticked off, and those that you’ve camouflaged under ‘next week’ and ‘maybe later’. Energy soars when you’re feeling more in control of the bits and pieces.

Libra 23 SEPT – 22 OCT

Fiscal strength and logical strategy may seem as dull as dishwater, but for now, that’s what floats. Think happy thoughts as you schlep through administrative drudgery – there’s a rainbow at the end of it, obscured though it is now by thunderous budgets, checks and balances. Things are looking up.

Aquarius 20 JAN – 18 FEB

Your mind is full to bursting and, apparently, over it. What’s up with that? Block out the bad voices telling you there’s no point, he’s not worth it or the job’s a sack of broken dreams. Beneath this cerebral drama are bushels of beautiful things – and a life that’s ticking along merrily, despite the angst.

Gemini 21 MAY – 20 JUN

Rebel vibes abound, which isn’t a bad thing. Toeing someone else’s line for long enough leads to jailbreak fever – and some sobering lessons. If you’re not comfortable with the status quo, seek solutions before pointing fingers, then lead a calm, objective shake-up. Just remember to leave the pouty face at home. ❖
