Promoting delivery

Part of the DBSA’s mandate is to promote infrastructure development in order to facilitate greater regional integration. It acts as a strategic partner to a number of other development finance institutions in Africa, particularly in the SADC region. It is a member of SADC’s Infrastructure Working Group, which aims to bring the region’s development finance institutions (DFIs) together in order to plan, identify, develop and deliver mutually beneficial and sustainable economic infrastructure projects. The working group meets quarterly with each member required to bring one national or regional legislated project that requires “last-mile” preparation, financial structuring or syndication. The DBSA plays a valuable role as it has extensive experience of complex infrastructure projects.
