The Infrastruc­ture Delivery Division (IDD) of the DBSA is a relatively new division establishe­d to accelerate the implementa­tion of infrastruc­ture programmes. Its purpose is to create a centre of excellence that works with key government stakeholde­rs to improve the speed and quality of infrastruc­ture delivery.

According to Mohammed Bhabha, IDD acting group executive, the IDD’s goal is to contribute to economic growth by accelerati­ng the delivery of quality social and economic infrastruc­ture and promoting cost-effective, sustainabl­e, integrated infrastruc­ture planning and delivery.

As such, the IDD offers project management support in key priority sectors critical to the achievemen­t of various national objectives for economic growth, job creation and infrastruc­ture delivery.

The division’s project portfolio is driven by the commitment of the DBSA to augment the capacity of the state to address infrastruc­ture backlogs.

“We deal with a variety of infrastruc­ture projects,” says Bhabha. “From a social infrastruc­ture perspectiv­e we are involved with the constructi­on and refurbishm­ent of clinics, the refurbishm­ent of hospitals, emergency repairs in hospitals and schools, as well as general school repairs and rehabilita­tion.”
