1. Coach Inc rebrands as Tapestry
Luxury company Coach Inc announced that it is changing its corporate name to Tapestry. The move comes as it widens its portfolio beyond the Coach brand. It also owns Stuart Weitzman and Kate Spade. Coach was established in 1941 as a family-run workshop in Manhattan, New York which sold handmade wallets.
2. Amazon’s possible pharmacy push
Following a CNBC news report which said Amazon will make a final decision soon about whether to move into the drug supply chain, Morgan Stanley said note this week it would not be a huge challenge for Amazon to become a pharmacy. 3. LVMH beats expectations
The world’s largest luxury group by revenues, LVMH, reported a 12% increase in third quarter sales that beat analyst expectations. All its units recorded double-digit revenue growth with the exception of wines and spirits, which houses champagne brand Moët & Chandon and Hennessy cognac.
4. Apple gets green light
Ireland’s high court has ruled that a Us$1bn data centre planned by tech giant Apple in the west of Ireland may proceed. Apple first announced plans to build the data centre in
2015 to take advantage of rich green energy sources in the region but the project was delayed due to planning objections. The data centre will be used to store European user data and to help power online services.
